AWC (Africa Woman and Conflict Feature Service) in collaboration with KCA (Kenya Correspondent Association) conducts an important workshop on how to approach and report on Conflict sensitive stories with Nakuru county journalists as Kenya heads to General election.
The workshop tried to come up with concrete ways to overcome scenarios that caused an international attention on 2007/2008 PEV(Post Election Violence). Here are some of the causes of conflicts that erupts once General Election comes:

2 Unemployment
3 Political incitement
4 Control over Nakuru town
5 Tribal leadership
6 Resources; such as water etc
7 Power
8 Tribal affiliations to political
parties
9 Hawking
10 National leadership
11 Elective positions within
Devolved goverment
12 ICC process
13 Propaganda;falsehood,innuendos etc
14 Influx of Somalis and Sudanese
15 Cattle rustling among
communities
16 Drug and substances abuse
17 Gender inequality
18 Unsolved problems among
warring communities
19 Lack of morals and principles among the people

The Journalists and civil society in the Forum came up with ways to solve this and agreed to apply and exercise it in their reporting and proffession.
"As Journalists you must stand on code and ethics as a professional," Orlale said to Journalists and civil society in the forum.

Journalists in Nakuru county assured that the coming general election would be fair and peaceful basing on what they write as they exercise code and ethics of journalism especially when reporting on the conflict sensitive stories.
