During the interview with hivisasa.com, Mr. Gathogo said he is ready to break the York of
tribalism within Nakuru county.”My policy is to eliminate the tribalism which
has been circulating all over the country as whole. Many candidature vie for seat
basing their politics in tribe, mine is very simple won’t do any thing to please
my tribe instead I will do what Nakuru people will be proud of.”He said.
As a transport chairman within Nakuru- Kanu Street area, Mr
Gathogo has done a lot which his colleagues are proud of. His deputy Mr. George
Thuo,before him(Gathogo)youth were not organised.There was no
discipline at all in the sector, but today they even it went to a point of contributing twenty shillings per day,
just incase the driver or conductor is arrested by police and taken to court,
they are able to pay the fine.”Under Mr. chairman as he referred to him (Gathogo)
the sector has moved to a higher step. That is the arrangement of vehicles during works hours. He also
brought plan of saving money per day
which was not there before for emergency. Our youth discipline has improved
since he has organized a talk to them,
to educate them to change the language toward the public, since our sector is
playing a major role in transport.”Explained Thuo.
Driver’s believe that Mr.Gathogo is enough to represent Nakuru east as
mp,because changing workers of matatu
sector as they are know from they arrogate language to their customer, was not a
simple task. This is according to some drivers whom I managed to speak to.
On the other hand, Mr.Gathogo was among the people who
started a school know as tumaini secondary, which is located at Barut village,
past Rhoda. The aim of the group was to see children from needy family have a
place to join after they are through with their KCPE (Kenya certificate of
Primary Education) .”In the year 2000 I was in a group called Nakuru Youth club.
The group had many project among them was to help the needy children, who have
performed well and the parent have no money to pay for their secondary fees. We
started at menengai social hall, with a small number. After sometime, the
number increased leading to establishment of tumaini secondary, in the year
2001.There was no charges to any student, and we managed the school up to 2003
where we handed it to the government. Having done that all am sure if elected
life of people of Nakuru east will be no more where they are today.”Explained
Mr. Gathogo.
In addition Mr. Gathogo condemned aspirant who go round
buying voting card. He said people should be aware of such leader.”There is a
group of politician who go round buying voting cards from people, I want to let
people know those are not leaders, because once elected they will not do thing
in straight forward since they won through corruption.”Said Gathogo.
